WEEKEND POST: POETRY : MY OWN POEM:

Free Verse Poem:

Redundant Cycles
by Amina B.

I sit and look out-
At all of cruelties of the world
The shattered innocence of the young girls
Who are selling themselves out on the street
The hidden guilt of young males
Selling drugs at the tender age of 15
Little kids imitate what happen around them
A redundant cycle that goes on and on, never stopping
I sit and look out-
At all the pain, the drunk father who abuses his whole family
His son grows up, a replica of the one he once feared so
Merciless souls who kill and rape
Unforgiving hearts, who plot to take revenge
Stuck in the ghetto, in a sweater
In the hood
I sit and look out at all these pains,
But I turn my head the other way.

WEEKEND POST: CUSTOMS: PROM: DRESSES

Prom is an exciting event that teenagers attend in 8th grade ( junior high) or in their senior year( high school). To get ready for it, there's a lot of preparation and excitement.
This slide show below shows Prom dresses, from short and flirty to long and graceful that I think are girls' best friend( after diamonds)

WEEKEND POST: POETRY: DREAMS BY LANGSTON HUGHES

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen with snow.
DREAMS

I think what this poems is saying is that life wont go anywhere without dreams, it'll be like " a broken-winged bird that cannot fly", in other words, it'll be useless.
The poem also emphasize this, when it says that "when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow", it's wont produce anything. This poem is really inspiring to me, because it shows the consequences of a life without dreams.

WEEKEND POST: FOLKLORES: BLOODY MARY, BLOOD MARY, BLOODY MARY

The Story

According to a legend, saying Bloody Mary in front of a mirror in a darkened room, ( bathrooms being the most used place), three to 100 times will make her spirit come out of the mirror. Some say she gouges your eyes out, others say she makes you become crazy while some others say she simply pulls you into the mirror, and you're never to be see again.
