Potato chips are a big part of our lives, from brands such as Lays to Wise, potato chips are indeed a delightful snack. Yet, have you ever wondered who first invented them?
George Crum(1822 – 1914)was an African/Native-American inventor who by mistake invented potato chips. He was the head chef of Moon's Lake House, a resort in Saratoga Springs, New York. When he made fries, a customer said it was "too thick and soggy", and also "not salty enough". Frustrated by the customer's comment, he decided to push it and sliced the potatoes way too thinly. The new version received accolades, and pretty soon, everyone were asking for it. His chips became popular and were known as Saratoga Chips . He opened a new restaurant with the income he earned from his invention and placed potato chips on every table. Pretty soon, many other people started selling them too.
